01 About Unfold

Built by
teachers.

Unfold was founded by teachers who watched AI start to take writing away from students, and believed the same technology could give it back. Writer’s Evolution is the result: AI that works beside the student and the teacher, and never does the writing for them.

02 Our story

One problem,
two founders.

The Unfold founders: the educator on the left, his co-founder on the right
The educator

A teacher who found the problem

In his own classroom, he watched AI work against everything he was trying to teach. Students could hand in finished writing without doing the thinking behind it. Rather than ban it, he set out to build a platform where AI supported his teaching and helped his students do their own work.

The first buyer

A co-founder who saw the potential

He saw what the data behind that process could do. If one teacher could see how each student was writing, the same insight could reach every classroom, helping schools understand and improve how writing is taught well beyond a single room.

Together, they are building Writer’s Evolution to make a difference beyond one classroom: for teachers, for their students, and for the schools that support them.

The Unfold mark: one sheet, folded once
03 The name

Why “unfold”

Our tools open up work while it’s still in progress, so a teacher can see how it’s developing rather than only the final result.

04 Principles

What we
won’t change.

Three rules every Unfold product follows. If a feature breaks one of them, we don’t ship it.

01

The student writes

Our tools help students plan, draft and revise. They never write the student’s work for them.

02

The teacher decides

Our tools show teachers what is happening. They don’t grade, judge or act without the teacher.

03

Every claim has evidence

Anything our tools say about a student’s work links to the part of the work it’s about.
